Business Analyst (Capital Markets)

SWI currently has openings in our Toronto office for Business Systems Analysts, to join our Financial Capital Markets practice.

Reporting to the VP or our Financial Practice, you will provide business systems analysis services to our clients. Your role will include working with senior business and technology stakeholders to gather requirements and to set strategic direction for their technology programmes. You will assist clients in evaluating the best technology choices for their current and future business processes, in Capital Markets, Risk, and Treasury. As a consulting firm, SWI undertakes a wide variety of technically challenging and interesting projects. You will work at client sites when assigned to projects and in our Toronto office, assisting with developing in-house requirements and specifications for new products and solutions.

To be successful in this role, you need a deep and thorough understanding of Capital Markets, Risk, or Treasury, and a sound technology background. You require excellent communication skills and must be able to take a lead role with senior stakeholders. Typical Responsibilities:

• Work with senior stakeholders to define high level business requirements and prepare business cases
• Recommend technology directions
• Translate business requirements into comprehensive, complete and accurate functional and technical specifications
• Define and recommend systems solutions to meet business goals
• Develop and document business rules, interface specifications, and conceptual designs
• Act as a liaison between business users and the software developers
• Lead design reviews and other meetings
• Facilitate user acceptance testing or other testing
• Write user manuals, functional specifications and other project-related documentation
• Prepare training materials, and deliver end user training
• Mentor more junior staff

Required Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of business analyst and/or project management experience, on information technology projects in the banking industry
• At least 6 months working at a Canadian Bank on Capital Markets, Risk, or Treasury projects or demonstrated knowledge of Capital Markets, Risk, and/or Treasury products and regulatory requirements
• Certified Treasury Professional designation and/or Canadian Securities Course
• A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Mathematics or Engineering
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to interact with senior management and stakeholders
• In-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence and/or database technologies and a background working on complex technology projects
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SQL database queries
• A willingness and desire to undertake a variety of roles on projects
• A great attitude, with a passion for excellence

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week). Salary range: $85,000 – $105,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. Eligible for discretionary bonuses and salary increases in accordance with company policies.
