SWI completes profile based access system enhancements project

Toronto, June 2, 2010-Systemware Innovation (SWI) has successfully completed system access enhancements that allow its client, a major Ontario power utility, to manage their staff access via a profile based access system. The system groups users together for the purpose of assigning or removing a common set of system access entitlements. Users are automatically assigned profiles based on their current assigned role within the organization. These profiles simplify system access and security management by assigning access to groups of users based on a common set of role attributes rather than assigning specific access to each individual. SWI team members were key contributors to this project providing expertise in project management, business analysis, software development and verification.

“We’re very happy with the work of our staff on this project,” commented VP Strategic Projects Jim Picha. “We feel it’s critical to have a deep understanding of our customers business and I think being able to respond quickly to all requests showed our commitment to the project’s success.”

The profile based access system realized many benefits for the organization including reduced provisioning costs, reduced application support costs, reduced turnaround time to provision entitlements, simplified approval workflow, simplified staff position changes, and simplified staff on-boarding.

“We have a broad range of experience with many energy market applications including logistics, planning, trading, risk management, and settlements,” remarked CEO David Tremaine. “Projects like this allow us to leverage that expertise to provide superior performance and service to our client.”

For over 30 years, SWI has been developing information technology solutions for the energy industry that have increased their competitiveness through greater efficiency and reduced technology risk. SWI consultants work both as attached staff, complementing the clients' project teams, and on solutions managed at SWI facilities.
