David Tremaine – CEO

Before becoming CEO, David served as SWI’s Chief Operating Officer for 4 years. Prior to that, he worked for over 20 years as a consultant on dozens of major projects in the nuclear, transportation, communications and financial industries. David is an expert in Software Quality. He was a co-author of the system and software engineering standards used by the Canadian nuclear industry. He also created the SWI Quality Management System (SQMS) and SWI Advantage methodology which embody the proven processes which allow SWI to reliably deliver consistent high quality.

Nigel Fonseca – VP, Engineering

Nigel is a control systems expert with extensive experience in both nuclear and oil movement I&C as well as other areas. Nigel has been responsible for the successful execution of numerous critical projects. He has gained the respect of both our clients and project teams because of his superb leadership skills, solid design judgment, deep technical knowledge and innovative thinking. Nigel provides oversight of SWI's adherence to sound engineering practices and design integrity principles.

Jim Picha – VP, Strategic Projects

Jim joined SWI in 1988 and since that time has been the architect of many key projects in the nuclear, financial and energy markets areas. Jim provided crucial technical leadership in the creation of the product lines for SWI's sister companies Halcyon Monitoring Solutions and xkoto. His clear thinking and practical management style is sought after by clients trying to deliver the complex projects with the impossible deadline. Other SWI project managers look to Jim as a mentor and a benchmark to measure their talents against.

Jeff McDougall – VP, Professional Services

Jeff has been a major force at SWI since he joined in 2000. He came to us with a wealth of expertise in real time systems development in the nuclear and medical industries. Jeff has been key to the success of many challenging projects through thoughtful analysis, effective team building and innovation. He is the author of various quality assurance standards and procedures. SWI relies on Jeff's guidance in our ongoing quest for more effective and efficient ways to provide excellent services.

David Ahier – VP, Solution Delivery

David joined SWI in 1988 and worked on many engineering projects before moving to the financial industry in 1997. Since that time, he has worked on many buy side as well as sell side projects and has deep investment industry business expertise. He also played a key leadership role in the design and implementation of the product lines of SWI’s sister company StraightThrough. David and his team excel at getting business requirements, designing innovative solutions and managing complex projects through to production.

Brian Muth – Chief Technology Officer   

Since 2001, Brian has headed a team of technologists who are experts in building solutions using the proven technologies that SWI specializes in. This includes Microsoft (Brian has received the MVP award from Microsoft for the past 6 years) and Salesforce.com. Prior to becoming CTO, Brian worked on many projects as an architect and technical expert. Brian is also a medical doctor and contributes his hospital and clinic knowledge to projects in the healthcare industry.

Polly Lau – Chief Financial Officer

For the past 10 years, Polly has been responsible for overseeing all of SWI’s financial, legal and administrative functions. Prior to that, Polly worked for 20 years as a consultant on dozens of major projects in the nuclear, transportation and financial industries.

John Wherry – Chairman

John is the founder of SWI and now works as an advisor to SWI management. Before 1990, John worked primarily on control systems engineering projects in the nuclear power industry where he played a major role in the development of several custom operating systems used in safety critical applications. Since 1990, John has worked primarily in the investment industry creating a wide range of custom solutions for both the sell side and the buy side. He has also worked in senior IT management roles in large companies where he has been brought in to facilitate critical business transformations.
